Doing laundry (especially if you have kids at home!) seems to be a never-ending chore. But if your dryer isn’t running at its full potential, your dryer could actually be slowing you down.
Drying times will vary depending on if your dryer is gas or electric, the size of the load, the type of fabric (cottons hold more water than synthetic fabrics), the amount of moisture in your clothes when you put them in, and yes, the condition of your exhaust venting.
If you feel your dryer is taking too long (more than the average 45-50 minutes per load), you may want to get your dryer system inspected. We’ve had clients whose loads were taking 1.5-2 hours or more! Many times, the cause of a slow dryer is a dangerous build-up of lint and debris (or even critters) in the dryer venting ductwork. That’s a lot of wasted time, electricity and money.
